A
word about the
April
2005
Robert Edward Auction On
April 30th 2005 Robert Edward Auctions had perhaps the
best sports auction I have ever seen for display pieces.
Since good display pieces are so rare, I can usually go
thru a sports auction catalog in no time. The average
sports auction will usually have 1-2 exceptional display
pieces , then some good pieces, then some O.K. pieces,
then some yawners and the rest will be hard
memorabilia. I was taken back when I opened up the April
2005 Robert Edward catalog . You just don't see that
many killer items in one auction, I mean it was rivaling
the Halper auction for display pieces! And it wasn't
just the pieces, but the way the catalog was put
together, excellent photos and especially good
descriptions, with all the important details like makers
and dimensions. That catalog should be considered a
collectors item in its own right! After the auction,
Robert Edward's president and founder Rob Lifson said it
was his most successful auction in 35 years. Rob was
kind enough to allow SportsAntiques101.com to use any of
the photos from the auction for reference. This was a
great help, and you will see many photos from the
auction throughout the site. On behalf of
SportsAntiques101.com and all it's visitors - Thanks Rob! Thanks
also to Josh Evans of Leland's Sports and
collectibles, Dave Hunt of Hunt Auctions, and Bill
Morford of Morford Auctions for
allowing use their photos as well, on this site.
